ASVAB Sections
The ASVAB test is divided in to 9 sub tests to check various abilities of an individual. These tests are maintained by the Department of Defenses.
General Science (GS) - This section checks on the student’s general knowledge in concepts of life, earth and physical sciences.
Arithmetic Reasoning (AR) - The student’s ability to answer questions based on basic arithmetic calculations.
Word Knowledge (WK) - The art of choosing the correct synonym for a given word from a choice of five words is tested in this section.
Paragraph Comprehension (PC) – The capability of answering questions based on given passages is measured through this section. Each passage is 30-120 words long.
Auto & Shop Information (AS) - Knowledge of automobiles, tools, and shop terminology
Mathematics Knowledge (MK) - Knowledge of math concepts, including applied arithmetic, algebra, and geometry
Mechanical Comprehension (MC) - Knowledge of basic mechanical and physical principles
Electronics Information (EI) - Knowledge of electronic principles and terminology, and basic electronic circuitry
Assembling Objects (AO) – The student’s capacity to understand and relate spatial diagrams is measured in this section. Only the computer based ASVAB test carries this section.
