CBEST SCORING
Each section is scored on a scale ranging from 20 to 80. Reading and Mathematics scores are derived based on the total number of correct answers. The writing section score is based on the candidate’s performance on the essays.
The total CBEST score is obtained by adding the scaled scores of Reading, Writing and Mathematics sections. In case of re-attempts, the highest score obtained in any section is considered for obtaining the total score.
The passing score for each section of CBEST is a scaled score 41 and a total of 123 are required for passing the CBEST. However, it is also possible to pass the CBEST with a scaled score of 37 in one or two sections, provided the total score is 123 or higher.
If the scores are less than 37 in any of the sections, it is not possible to pass the CBEST, regardless of however high the total score may be.
On passing the CBEST, the following will be given with the score report:
- A Permanent Verification Card confirming the passing of CBEST.
- Two transcript copies of Permanent Verification Card to be used as required by the Commissions, Colleges, School districts or Universities.
- Additional set of score reports (comprising an Examinee Score Report, two Permanent Verification Card transcript copies and a Permanent Verification Card) if required from NES for an additional fee.
- A Score Report Reprint Request Form found in the registration bulletin.
