GMAT TEST
The GMAT is the acronym for ‘Graduate Management Admissions Test’. It is a standardization test conduced by several business schools to measure the student’s ability to be successful in the business school. The GMAT test analyses the logical reasoning skills of an individual. All the questions asked are in multiple-choice format except for two essay topics given that have to be completed in 30 minutes each. Previously only the pencil GMAT test was the only possible option. But today computer based GMAT test is also available. More than 1000 schools in the US require the GMAT scores. The performance in the GMAT test is the decider for admissions in to the business schools. Higher the score better are chances for getting in to the institutions. Every year more than 2.5 lakh students take the GMAT Test worldwide.
The GMAT Test is comprised of three sections
- GMAT Math
- GMAT Verbal and
- GMAT essays
Each section should be taken seriously because both individual as well as composite scores are considered. Give more importance to the section ou are weak in to boost up the score levels. Different business schools consider scores based on each section. Like business schools dealing with finance as their main domain will concentrate seriously on the Math score than on the other sections.
The GMAT test is structured in a unique pattern. It is different from the other standardization tests. No wo students will get the same set of questions. All the answers ave to compulsorily answered. Since it is a computer based test, there is no use of paper and pencil. The total score for the GMAT test is 800. Most students get a score of 500-600, but some students do excel to get a 800 score. The GMAT is one bridge between the business school applicant and the Institution itself. It is a process in itself.
The computer based GMAT as a unique methodology. One question appears in front of the student on the screen. This question is taken from the large database of questions available. The first question asked is usually of medium difficulty. The next question is based on your first question performance. Every questions answered follows the ability level pattern. Every question has a choice of five answers. The student can click the appropriate one. The next question appears only after answering the given question. There is no option of changing the answers once answered. So make sure you don’t hasten in answering.
