Most companies and industries choose The Project Management Professional (PMP) as the credential for project management. On achieving the PMP credential, the project management community will include the name of the achiever in the most prestigious and largest group of credentialed professionals. The PMP certification exam, which is internationally recognized is conducted by The Project Management Institute (PMI). The PMI promotes the project management discipline and is a world recognized body.
The PMP certification is recognized internationally for any project management profession. This certification actually indicates that the certificate holder has a minimum of three years of work experience in project management and has covered a minimum of 35 hours of project management education and possess significant knowledge in that particular field as revealed by passing the PMP examination. The PMP examination measures the knowledge, skills, technique and tools that are required and practiced in project management.
The PMP certification is awarded only after conducting a rigorous examination that meets the highest levels in the profession of project management. Increasing number of organizations now require all their team members to hold a PMP certification.
The PMP examination mainly assesses the project management knowledge of the examinee on the following areas: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing the project and the social and professional responsibility of the examinee. It is a computer based examination and has ten languages for translation aids.
