PRAXIS Test
The Praxis examination is a licence certification for teaching in any state of US. They are specifically exams in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. These examinations are developed and designed by Educational Testing Services ( ETS). The Praxis examinations are commissioned by ASHA. These examintations asses specific subject knowledge of the test taker. They measure the testing knowledge of the test taker than he/ she will be teaching once the licence is issued. The Praxis exam is a assurity that the test taker is an expert in the specified ares for taking classes in a classroom. It is a national program where the individual can tranfer the scores to any state. Every state has its own test rules and scoring procedures. To know. The Praxis is divided in to three section of Praxis I, II and III.
Praxis-I:
The basic reading, writing and mathematic skills are asses in this section. A program called the Pre-Professional Skills Assessments (PPST) is designed to measure these skills.
Praxis-II:
Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT), Teaching and Foundation tests and subject wise assesments are measured in this section. Specific subject teaching skills are tested in general.
Praxis-III:
The classroom performance is assessed through this section. The various methods in which the classroom performance of a beginner can be measured is assessed. By performance it includes areas like classroom observation, Documents prepared by the teachers and semi-structures interviews.
Component 1: Framework of knowledge and skills for a beginning teacher that assess the teaching performance across all grade levels and content areas.
Component 2: Instruments used by trained assessors to collect data, analyze, and score the teaching performance.
Component 3: Training of assessors to facilitate consistent, accurate, and fair assessments of a beginning teacher.
