PSAT TEST

The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test) test is a standardization test for the grade 11 and 12 students. It is a system to measure the strengths and weaknesses of a student in his last two years of schooling. It is similar to the SAT I test and is a good practice test for students before going in for the SAT I test. The PSAT test last for two hours. The PSAT test comprises of four sections of 30 minutes each. The results from the PSAT test are considered for the National Merit Scholarships. Hence is it termed as the NMSQT or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. All details pertaining to the PSAT test are available at the school’s guidance office. For practice tests and tips the Student Bulletin should be sought for. Option of fee waiver is available for students coming from low-income families.

There are two section dealing math related questions, two verbal sections and one writing section. The total score works up to 240 maximum points and is scored on a range of 20 – 80 points. It is better to take the PSAT test at least once in the 11th grade. It is only going to be a practice for the final PSAT test in the 12th grade. The PSAT test is developed by the College Board. In Princeton, NJ the board sponsors AP programs with technical operational services provided by the Educational Testing Services (ETS).
