TOEIC TEST SECTIONS
The TOEIC test is comprised of 200 multiple-choice questions spread in to two sections of listening and reading sections. The questions asked are based on real- life corporate settings like meetings, travel, telephone conversations etc. Test takers have to answer 200 questions that are of multiple-choice type categorized into listening comprehension and reading sections. The answers have to be marked with a pencil in the answer sheet only. This answer sheet is machine-scannable. The machine rejects the answers, which have more than one choice, marked.
Listening comprehension
This section has many statements, questions and small conversations in the English language. About 100 questions will be asked to answer from the audio provided. This section basically aims at testing the listening skills of the test taker. Around 45 minutes are provided to complete this section. The listening section is further divided in to four sub-categories. They are Photographs (20 questions), Question-response (30 questions), Short conversations (30 questions) and Short talks (20 questions).
Reading Comprehension
This section presents the student with many materials to be read. The student has to respond to about 100 question based on what is read. The time allotted to complete this section is 75 minutes. This section is also further broken down in to three sub-categories of Incomplete sentences (40 questions), Error recognition (20 questions), Reading comprehension (40 questions).
Other than the time given to finish the TOEIC test time will also be given to finish off the biographical questions and a small questionnaire about the education and work history of the test taker. The student has to select a suitable answer from the given four choices.
