TOEIC TEST STRUCTURE
The TOEIC test is a test to evaluate the English language skills of an individual. Especially the non-native speakers of English take this test to prove their ability. The TOEIC test is divided in to three sections of
- Listening comprehension – 50 questions
- Structure and written expression – 40 questions
- Reading – 50 questions
The TOEIC test has about 140 questions all of multiple-choice type. Each section in the TOEIC test is scored separately. So the students must concentrate on each section carefully. The TOEIC test lasts for two hours and an extra thirty minutes are provided to finish the TOEIC background questionnaire on the answer sheet. The test is divided in to two sections with 200 questions totally.
Listening Section
This section determines how well the spoken English is understood. Questions are based on statements, conversations and speeches that are recorded in audiocassettes or CDs. This section has to be completed in 45 minutes. About 100 questions have to be answered in this section.
Reading Section
Three parts are tested in this section to understand how well the written English is understood. Many materials have to be read and responses have to be given based on the material read. About 100 questions have to be answered in this section. 75 minutes are given to complete this section.
Four multiple choices will be provided. One correct answer should be ticked properly with a pencil on a separate sheet of paper. Some useful hints to take up the TOEIC test
- Make sure you are prompt and careful at the same time
- Only one answer for each question should be marked
- Answers would be marked in the answer sheets only and not in the test book given
- Keep time in mind as you progress
- For question with double markings the answers will be considered as wrong
