TOEIC TEST
The TOEIC test is an examination to test the English language skills of a person who is willing to work in an international business or ay industrial environment. Like the other standardization tests like GRE, TOEFL, SAT etc this test is also administered by the ETS (Educational Testing Service). The ETS is situated in Princeton, New Jersey. The TOEIC test has two sections of listening and reading. It has about 200 multiple-choice questions asked. The certificated for the test are issued within three weeks from the date of exam. The TOEIC is a paper-based exam. The reading and writing skills of the test taker are thoroughly understood based on the performance.
The TOEIC test lasts for about two and a half hours. The score ranges from 10 to 990 or 5 to 495 in each section. There is nothing like a pass mark or failing mark in this test. Non-native speakers of English worldwide take the TOEIC to determine their language skills in English. More than 5 million people take the TOEIC test every year. When a non-native English speaker applies for a new post he must submit the TOEIC score in order to prove his ability. Corporate institutions use the TOEIC test as a medium to recruit new non-native English speakers. English that is required for everyday use is tested through this test.
